Balance vs Duality

What is the difference between balance and duality? They both tend to be composed of opposites, but what causes some symbols, such as the yin yang or the black and white checkerboard, to be classified as both balance and duality?

For myself, the answer is simple: It’s the mindset. Anything that is comprised of opposites, such as a battery, can be seen as either, but knowing the difference is what defines the words.

In my opinion, balance is knowing that it takes positive and negative (or feminine and masculine) energy to make anything whole. They are two separate entities and respect is given to the two as separates, but you know without the equal functions of the separate, there cannot be a whole.

Duality is not giving respect to the opposites as individual energies yet trying to force a wholeness. It often leads to a split within the forced wholeness because there isn’t any harmony.

For example, we all feel happiness and anger, but if there is no understanding of how these opposing emotions work separately, you will not understand the benefits nor dangers of each (yes, overt happiness can become dangerous), nor will you understand how to make them work for the wholeness of self. There will eventually be an inner battle in which both will try to “take over” and a split of self will be created in order to deal with the battle. There will be no harmony within self.

Opposites will always attract, but there has to be knowledge and respect given to each side in order for it to work.

Yes, there are more complicated ways to speak on this topic. It can get very deep, but I’m just choosing to speak in a way that will be understood, or inner-stood, by those that care to see and think outside of the veil.

Once again, this is simply my perspective, but I’m always open for discussion.

Question(s) That Need Answering

Why is it that we are being propagated to be fragmented within ourselves in order to survive within this world?

Is being whole truly the biggest fear of any enemy? If so, why?

I have my own ideas, I just wonder what is every or anyone else’s take on the subject. Do note that in my opinion, being balanced isn’t being fragmented. My definition of being fragmented or separated is having to wear a mask or bring forth another personality/alter in order to maintain whatever it is you think you want or need.
